Thumbnails Window

What is the Thumbnails Window?

Files can be dropped from the Finder, Find File, and certain other application software to anywhere inside this window. You control the number of thumbnails per row by sizing the window and by setting the thumbnail image size with the Size control in the Thumbnail panel of the Settings Window. Pressing [ 8] bring this window to the front.

How do I change the current thumbnail selection?

A selected thumbnail is indicated by a contrasted frame around the thumbnail image. The primary selection has an undotted cyan frame. With the Thumbnails window, use the arrow keys or click the thumbnail. Holding the [SHIFT] key down extends the selection. Holding the [] key down extends the selection to the nearest previously selected thumbnail. Dragging from between the thumbnails and the scroll bar to the left performs a rolling drag. Pressing an alphanumeric key selects the first file name beginning with that letter. Also, selecting an Image Window or Movie Window selects its corresponding thumbnail. The Animation Window, Media Info Window, Slide Show, and Tile Window will synchronize their contents to the primary selection. Additionally, the Selection menu provides a sub-menu for selecting multiple thumbnails. Of course Next Thumbnail and Previous Thumbnail, [ =] and [ -], can be used even when the thumbnails window is not visible.

How do I remove thumbnails from the Thumbnails Window?

Press [DELETE] with one or more thumbnails selected. If the Thumbnails Window is not selected, choose Clear... from the Edit menu. Pressing [ N] removes all thumbnails after a waning message.

How do I arbitrarily order the sequence of thumbnails?

Click the Special radio button in the Thumbnails panel of the Settings Window. Then select a thumbnail in the Thumbnails Window. Press [>] or [.] to move the thumbnail right, press[<] or [,] to move the thumbnail left. Your sequence will be saved if you create a QuickNailer Media Catalog.

How do I have the Finder move the media file?

Drag the thumbnail from the Thumbnails Window to the desired Finder folder or folder's window.
• In versions of the operating system before MacOS 8.0, dragging thumbnails to another volume or alias does not work as expected.
• The Finder may lag behind representing your change from the old file folder window to the the new file folder window.

What is that number inside the thumbnail?

The media file could not be imaged because an error occurred.

Example: The media file was damaged during a modem file transfer or you need to install a newer version of QuickTime.
